This year’s Summer Sniper Match was last weekend at Tri-County and turned out to be pretty darn challenging. Although the distance was pretty low, under 500 yards, the match directors found some insidious ways to make it difficult as well as equalizing the stages so neither bolt guns nor gas guns had a real advantage. Stages started with loose rounds so you had to gas up your magazine or single feed to keep things even between the different platforms. And because the distance was fairly low I really pushed it on the “know your limits” types of stages where once you miss, you’re finished, so I wound up with some pretty low scores on a couple of stages. Shooting at 140 yards seems trivial until you’re hitting golf balls with only 5 rounds. What a blast, and I’m really looking forward to the next one.
